Carnival 2013 songs for the Rio Special Group schools

The Samba schools that comprise the Special Group are the only ones competing for the grand championship of Carnaval for best performance. Millions of dollars are at stake here. The parade through Rio begins on Feb. 10 and ends on Feb. 12.

To get you in the Carnaval mood here are videos of the recent TV program in which the Special Group schools perform their annual theme song. These songs narrate some historical events relevant in Brazilian culture.
Most Cariocas, citizens of Rio de Janeiro, learn the songs and sing along during the procession on Carnaval nights.
