‘We aren’t garbage’: Brazil under fire for World Cup slum evictions Looming soccer tournament

The poor living in the slums of Brazil are complaining of evictions from their shanties in preparation for the 2014 World Cup soccer matches.  Brazil hopes the 2014 World Cup will lead to improvements in quality of life for the masses; however, some, if not many, people believe the nation’s infrastructure problems create a serious impediment to a truly successful World Cup.
