As many of you know, my plan is to retire in Rio in a few years. But real estate prices are constantly rising as the city becomes a more popular destination in preparation for the World Cup and Olympic Games. What many do not realize, or acknowledge, is that Rio is a very large city with many barrios still “undiscovered” by foreigners (gringos). Given the extreme poverty of most residents in Rio, I cannot believe that in our lifetimes a gringo will be unable to find decent, affordable housing in the city.
Take a look at the recent Rio Times article on suburbs in Rio that validates my opinion. So go ahead, dream of that move to Rio!
