Where to stay in San Diego on a budget. Clean, safe hotels in San Diego, California.

San Diego, known as America’s Finest City, is truly a beautiful environment. Even landing at Lindbergh Field, the airport, is a pleasure. Located just west of downtown, the airport landing strips allow travelers to experience amazing views of the downtown area on approach.

San Diego has nice beaches. The location also offers easy access to Mexico via the Blue Line Trolley Station San Ysidro.

The one thing San Diego does not have is a large quantity of inexpensive lodging. Rental rates are very high in the city.

However, as this blog is about traveling and experiencing the best without spending lots of money, I thought it time to provide a list of budget spots in San Diego that offer a good location, clean rooms, safe environment, and access to public transportation.

Places to stay on a budget in San Diego, CA.
1. The Premier Inn Hotel Circle. The Premier is the “upscale” label within the EZ 8 motel chain. EZ 8 is a California and Arizona brand of local, budget motels known for offering low rates year round and clean rooms. I stayed at the Premier last July for $40 around July 4th, amazing. The rooms offer a modern TV with a full cable lineup, nice paintings on the walls, large bed, chair, large desk, fridge, and modern shower.
There is a microwave and laundry machines on the 2nd floor.
There is also a pool and hot tub!!!!!

Rates range from $40-$50 per night. Just go to http://www.ez8motels.com/

2. EZ 8 Hotel Old Town. This place is a real find. Though located right below the I-5 freeway, this hotel is reasonably quiet. Rates are from 39-45/night. As with most EZ 8 hotels you will find clean rooms. Unlike the Premier, which is part of the brand, EZ hotels do not provide such amenities as shampoo and hair dryers. You will have cable TV, fridge, wi fi at a small fee, and access to a microwave and laundry facility. http://www.ez8motels.com/

3. Motel 6 Chula Vista across from the E-Street Trolley. This is a prime spot for you guys planning to make daily runs to Tijuana, Mexico. Rates are steady around 45-50/night. Rooms are clean, if a bit spartan. Bathrooms spotless. Free wifi at the McDonalds adjacent to the hotel; otherwise, use the $2.99/day wifi at Motel 6.  Since the paid wifi is good for 24 hours, you can pay for it, then sign on at a strategic time to allow for what is essentially two days of use.  Then, is needed go to the McDonalds here and there to save money.  Lots of eateries, a grocery store, and a liquor store within two blocks. You can take the Trolley, which is a few steps from the hotel, and reach either Downtown San Diego (north) or Mexico (south) in 15 minutes. http://www.motel6.com/reservations/motel_detail.aspx?num=1037
