Yes, that is correct, Carnaval is almost upon us. Be sure to keep posted on the latest events from Rio de Janeiro, Bahia and Sao Paulo right here on the Brazil Travel Center Blog. Live streaming from all three locations begins on the Thursday before Fat Tuesday (I’ll explain later for the uninitiated). We will provide the weblinks that will allow you to watch all the events live!
Most viewers enjoy the live stream so much that they begin planning a visit to Brazil. It is never too early to begin planning!
During Carnival each Samba school attempts to outdo the others to win the championship. People practice almost an entire year for the parade through the streets and Sambadrome. The judges rate the schools based on the quality of their song, dance and costumes. Each song (or samba) tells a story, quite often the history of Brazil or another Latin American nation.
here is Salgueiro’s (a.k.a. the star’s of Carnaval) 2014 samba.
